Rethinking Fabric Waste (2025)
In-house Studio Project
In-house Studio Project
In collaboration with Mobella, the industrial design team at NextOfKin Creatives explored forms with recycled fabrics, creating adaptable, sustainable solutions that reduce waste through customisable designs. Using fabric offcuts from Mobella, the industrial designers explored various functional creations.
Meanwhile, the motion design team was tasked with creating a set of vignettes to feature some of these creations, as well as to talk about the process of turning textile offcuts into design.
In this particular video, we talked about the industrial design team's process of turning textile offcuts into one of their creations, Chubby, a reimagined accessory tray. Their process involves shredding the textile offcuts, then compressing the shredded fabric into a mould.
My role here involved art direction, look development and animation/simulations for some of the shots.
