The industrial design team at NextOfKin Creatives worked closely with Dell to design their Alienware gaming headphones and mouse.
As part of the studio's industrial design portfolio, the motion design team was tasked with creating 2 videos to communicate the design language and form expression of the gaming headphones and the mouse.
Diving into the original story behind the design language of Alienware, we wanted to focus on the sentient (alien) element, which led us to a sci-fi narrative, partly inspired by Oblivion. We reimagined these products as ancient artifacts being excavated and restored into their actual final form.
My role here involved art direction, look development and animation.
Drawing inspiration from the sci-fi film 'Oblivion', we aimed to create minimal landscapes that seemed out of the world.
Our initial concept of the cave environments we built were sparked by idea of the grooves and ridges of our ears. Building a surreal environment that has never been seen before proved to be a challenge, with many questionable initial explorations.
